Genie Halloween Costumes

I get excited when Halloween rolls around. But when I say excited, I really mean obsessed. Growing up, my nana always sewed elaborate Halloween costumes for my sister and I. Once we were Care Bears complete with giant, stuffed heads! These days, I’m thankful that my mom has carried on the tradition of sewing Halloween costumes for my girls and sometimes for my husband and me. But these genie costumes were entirely put together by me. I embellished plain t-shirts, made hats out of takeaway containers, paper, ribbon and fabric and then I sewed genie pants. My inspiration came from a crafty mom blog post that promised an easy project. Five thousand hours later, I finished the costumes. Moral of this story; don’t believe blog posts that tell you a handmade project is simple!
